Position Purpose
Individuals in the Network Engineer role are responsible for the design, implementation, and operation of Dartmouth’s campus network. This responsibility includes all wired and wireless components of the physical network on the Hanover campus in addition to equipment in remote locations. It extends to the network components of data center and cloud infrastructure, maintaining the ongoing operation and automation of the network, the configuration and maintenance of the performance and fault monitoring systems, and escalation on the maintenance and configuration of the cloud-based telephony system. Network Engineers serve as an escalation point for Network Technicians and respond to incidents and problems, and partner with IT organizations within Dartmouth to architect and implement point solutions.

- 5 to 7 years of experience supporting production networks
- Demonstrated ability to work self-motivated and independently with limited supervision
- Demonstrated ability to thrive and be productive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Expertise in at least two or more of the following areas of
specialization:
- Routing and switching
- Wireless
- VoIP
- Network automation and network programming
- Expertise with automation frameworks such as Ansible
- Expertise with a programming language such as Python
- Expertise in two or more network platforms, such as Cisco IOS or Junos
- Expertise in public cloud platforms such as Amazon AWS
