Job Description Summary

Ensures that PGCC has a large, high-quality photo/video library that reflects the college’s diverse student population and visual identity. Performs production tasks using professional photography, video, techniques in support of the communications and marketing department and the mission and goals of the college. Provides studio, portrait, special event, sports, and on-location photography and videography services for the college’s internal and external clients. Operates professional digital video and digital SLR photo cameras to capture media as assigned and ingests and organizes media assets into the file server for storage, client access and editing.

Minimum Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Possess a strong online portfolio of professional videos, and photography.
  • Associates degree preferred

EXPERIENCE
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional photography and video production, or broadcast television experience.
  • Experience using broadcast quality 4K studio, ENG and Canon C300 MKII cameras and related equipment
  • Experience using digital SLR camera bodies, lenses, flashes, light meters and tripods.
  • Experience setting up studio lighting grids, location lighting and microphones.
  • Experience working in Mac based computer environment.
  • Experience transcoding files using Media Encoder and understanding various video file formats, and compression systems for exporting videos for broadcast on PGCC TV, local television, YouTube, social media platforms and the college’s website a plus.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
  • Skill using the Adobe Creative Suite, especially Photoshop to enhance and manipulate photos as well as knowledgeable in producing press-ready images.
  • Knowledge of lighting for both photography and video in studio and on location using LED and other lighting grid systems.
  • Skill in processing images using Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Bridge.
  • Demonstrated ability to focus, adjust aperture and compose the frame for either video or photography.
  • Ability to effectively communicate in standard English both spoken and written information.
  • Ability to perform solo assignments as well as be part of a production team.
  • Ability to apply creative thinking, visual storytelling, and technical problem-solving skills to photography and video assignments.
  • Knowledge of enhancing the technical quality of poorly recorded video and audio by making color corrections and equalizing sound.
  • Ability to work irregular shifts and extended hours, including evenings and weekends at times.
  • Skills using non-linear editing platforms, preferably Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, and/or DaVinci Resolve a major plus; certification in any of these editing systems also a plus.
Criteria

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Shoots broadcast quality digital images and video, as requested, to meet the college’s needs for internal communications, external marketing, web, social media, television programs, special events, performances, news and sports coverage.
  • Collaborates with the communications and marketing staff to bring creative services and PGCC -TV video and photography projects from conception to completion.
  • Updates the college’s photo archive of campus locations, buildings, faculty, staff and students on a continual basis.
  • Merges older archived photos with Dropbox or any selected photography management system.
  • Serves as the main resource for the college’s online photo database and works with staff to ensure correct names, titles, keywords, and image details as well as enter video and photo metadata.
  • Utilizes professional 4K video, ENG, studio cameras and Canon C300 MKII and related equipment; and digital still photographs with Digital SLR camera and related equipment.
  • Schedules photography and video shoots with clients across the college as assigned.
  • Operates broadcast television studio cameras and sets up lighting for studio productions.
  • Executes three-point lighting and studio grid lighting system in preparation for video shooting.
  • Positions microphones in strategic locations for proper audio recording for video shoots; and assembles video camera on tripod, levels the camera, sets white balance, and records proper video and audio signal levels.
  • Scouts shoot locations and assesses possible obstacles in filming and provides solutions or alternatives.
  • Performs video and photo file transfers, logging and organizing of video and photo library for storage, access, and archival purposes.
  • Ensures high quality video recordings using virtual and live streaming tools including but not limited to Zoom, Panopto, StreamYard and other platforms as required.
  • Utilizes non-linear video editing and photo editing software to color correct, color grade and edit videos and photos for projects as needed.
  • Reviews raw footage and photos, logs video, b-roll and sound bites, labels, describes and organizes video clips for editing and archival purposes.
  • Applies professional video composition principles and techniques for creating transitions, graphics, titles, chroma key effects, multi-cam syncing, and multilayer compositing to match the Producer’s creative direction and to fulfill the client’s vision for the project.
  • Ingests video files into the media asset management system, transcodes media into different file formats and organizes media file folder structure on file server for access by multiusers.
  • Prioritizes multiple video and photo shoot assignments, completing post-production tasks in a timely manner and meeting multiple project deadlines.
  • Performs video and photo editing in both PGCC -TV edit workstations on campus and/or remotely with the ability to share screens for collaborative editing, and producer and client review as needed.
  • Advices the team on advances in photography equipment and video camera and lighting technology to recommend improvements and purchases.
  • Creates creative content with Sr. Producer for social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, TikTok and Instagram as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must have the use of sensory skills in order to effectively communicate and interact with other employees and the public using the telephone and personal contact as normally defined by the ability to see, read, talk, hear, handle, or feel objects and controls. Physical capability to effectively use and operate various items of office related equipment, such as, but not limited to a personal computer and ENG and DSLR camera controls. Light work with some physical demands such as continuously lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds, but rarely moving up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time, to climb ladders, crawl on hands and knees under tables and desks.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to safely transport photography/video equipment to/from the various production locations while on assignment.
  • Must be able to work Monday thru Friday, 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. (Must be able to work flexible hours)
  • Ability to communicate effectively in spoken and written standard English.
  • As required by the 1986 Immigration Act, be prepared to present acceptable documentation showing your identity and that you are a U.S. citizen or an alien who is authorized to work.
  • A background investigation will be conducted prior to the offer of employment. A signed authorization for the release of personal information will be required if selected for an interview.
