Job Description Summary

The GPS and Vehicle Dynamics Laboratory invites applications for an Assistant Research Professor. This position is a 12-month non-tenure track faculty assignment within the Auburn University research faculty family. The selected individual will have a one-year written employment contract, which may be renewed for future years based on need, availability of funding, and performance. The total term of employment will not exceed the period of available funding from contract and grant, generated income, or other designated funds.
This position will be responsible for conducting research and executing tasks specified in GAVLab Active Projects. These include, but are not limited to, designing experiments, sensor fusion, signal processing, advising graduate and undergraduate students, and writing reports, scholarly papers, and proposals.

The ideal candidate should bring expertise in areas of research that complement ongoing efforts in the lab, including sensor fusion, signal processing, and autonomous vehicle dynamics and controls.

Minimum Qualifications

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering or closely related field at the time employment begins. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time appointment is scheduled to begin, and must continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Candidates must be eligible to receive a U.S. Secret Clearance.
The successful candidate should possess the following qualifications:
‐ A strong publication record
‐ Experience in digital signal processing, estimation theory, navigation ‐ Knowledge and expertise in dynamics and controls, including hardware implementation
‐ Good knowledge of experimental design and statistics
‐ Strong programming skills (C++ and ROS experience are desired)
‐ A willingness to work in multi disciplinary teams
‐ Good communication skills

Desired Qualifications

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, a record of high quality research publications in referred journals and conference proceedings, and demonstrated ability to work within multidisciplinary teams.
