PURPOSE

 

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning seeks an on campus Instructional Designer to work collaboratively with on ground faculty and other stakeholders to create high-quality face-to-face, hybrid, and hyflex learning experiences.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

· Collaborate with on ground faculty and other stakeholders to systematically (re)design courses, programs, and other instructional resources to achieve desired learning outcomes.

· Assist faculty with the selection and design of instructional strategies and assessment methods aligned to course learning outcomes.

· Develop and implement instructional design plans and timelines in collaboration with faculty.

· Conducts quality assurance reviews of courses and other instructional materials.

· Guide faculty in analyzing instructional challenges and developing appropriate solutions.

· Assist faculty in identifying innovative methods of content delivery in face-to-face, hybrid, and hyflex environments using appropriate technologies.

· Develop and deliver face-to-face workshops, online webinars, consultations, and other resources focused on best practices in the design and delivery of high-impact, face-to-face learning experiences.

· Promote a student-centered approach to on ground instruction, assignments, assessments, interactions, and educational technologies.

· Research new pedagogical methods, assessment techniques, and course design practices, especially those related to student-centered teaching and learning, and disseminate relevant research and literature to faculty and staff.

· Research best practices in areas related to faculty development and improving the center’s overall effectiveness.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Assumes additional responsibilities and performs special projects as needed or requested.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. A Master’s degree in instructional design or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. 3+ years of teaching experience at the higher education level (full or part-time).

3. 2+ years of experience in a faculty development role or related position in support of faculty.

4. 2+ years demonstrated experience designing courses

5. 2+ years demonstrated experience assisting faculty in the design of courses

6. Working knowledge of learning management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.).

7. Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Office Suite.

8. Strong oral and written communication skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

1. 3+ years experience working with faculty to design face-to-face, hybrid, hyflex, and/or online courses.

2. Knowledge of best practices in student engagement, active learning, formative assessment, and other high impact learning strategies.

3. Demonstrated experience in the use of a variety of instructional technologies, including learning management systems (Blackboard, Canvas, etc.) and synchronous communication tools (Zoom, Collaborate Ultra, Skype, etc.).

4. Demonstrated experience in the development and delivery of professional development opportunities.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Nature of work requires an ability to operate standard business office equipment.

2. Requires ability to communicate and exchange information, collect, compile and prepare work documents, set-up and maintain work files.

3. Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

WORKING CONDITIONS

1. Work performed on campus in a general office environment.

2. Some travel is required
