Vice President for Engagement and Extension 


Lincoln University seeks an inaugural Vice President for Extension and Engagement to provide an enhanced vision and leadership to our School of Adult and Continuing Education (SACE) program. Serving as a member of the President’s Executive Cabinet, the applicant will work closely with the Provost & Dean of the Faculty. The ideal candidate will create innovative academic programming to add to our existing curricula. Based on instructive models that emphasize skill enhancement, career advancement, workforce development, and distance learning, this Continuing Education unit, will offer a variety of educational programming dedicated to meeting the needs of community members, contemporary learners, and diverse professionals. 

 

Duties and responsibilities include:

 

  • Directs the planning and operations of SACE and the Extension and Engagement programs
  • Engaging in researching, planning, and implementing varied educational programs designed to provide flexible options and access to academic courses, certifications, badges, prior learning assessments (PLA), noncredit, professional development, and enrichment experiences. 
  • Facilitating the offering of courses/experiences in varied formats including face to face, hybrid and online.
  • Provide consultation for the design, development, implementation and evaluation of virtual learning projects, programs, and initiatives
  • Establishing, strengthening, and maintaining key relationships with local, state, and government entities.
  • Develop and implement procedures, guidelines, and support services for Extension and Engagement programs.
  • Collaborating with university offices including Enrollment, Registrar, Financial Aid, and Sponsored Programs.
  • Initiate and monitor relevant vendor contracts.
  • Engaging community members to better understand the community and conduct needs assessment that guide program offerings.

 

Qualifications:

  • Earned Terminal degree in related area
  • Proven track record of creating the strategic framework to implement innovative programs that meet the needs of contemporary and diverse learners
  • Demonstrated interest in extension school and community engagement programing in higher education 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills including the ability to articulate a vision with clarity, consistency, and transparency
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience with building costs structures, and advancing inventive budgeting models that result in notable profits 
  • Understanding of the concepts and practices of Workforce Development in meeting the needs of industry as well as community members
  • Experience with harnessing current and emerging technologies to promote educational programming within the University, nationally and internationally 
  • Extensive experience in leadership, program development, implementation, and evaluation
  • Significant experience in Higher Education environments
  • Extensive knowledge of state, federal, accrediting standards/requirements, regulations, and laws related to higher education
  • Experience in program recruitment, enrollment, retention, community engagement and outreach programs
  • Experience and success in grant writing and varied fund-raising initiatives 
  • Demonstrated experience in promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, and bend and reach.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. Travel for administrative work is expected. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions: protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
