Job Description

The Deputy Director of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial Aid (USFA) serves as one of the institution's experts on financial aid programs and is responsible for excellent service delivery; developing and implementing financial aid strategies, policies, and procedures that serve the university goals; ensure compliance with federal, state, and university regulations, policies, and statutes; and, further operational efficiency and effectiveness Reporting to the Associate Vice Provost for Enrollment Management and Director of the Office of University Scholarships and Financial aid, the deputy director will join a dedicated team of professionals committed to student access, opportunity, and success.

The Deputy Director provides high-level oversight, supervision, and guidance to manage programs, systems, and fiscal activities following all applicable federal, state, private, and institutional regulations The Deputy Director is expected to participate in management by outcomes to facilitate proactive leadership as the second in command in USFA. The position provides overall leadership for managing risk and developing a strategic, effective, and streamlined plan and vision in the administration of all aid programs.

USFA administers/facilitates an institutional, federal, state, and private loan financial aid portfolio that exceeds $360 million annually and serves more than 23,000 undergraduate, graduate, and health professions students. Overseeing a staff of thirty-one full-time employees, the Deputy Director provides leadership for planning, management, and evaluation of programs, processes, personnel, and budgets.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree is required.
• Must have extensive demonstrated and progress experience in a fast-paced financial aid
office and ongoing management and leadership experience.
• Must have hands-on financial aid administration experience (i.e. Title IV and Student
Information Systems)
• Experience understanding and interpreting financial aid and enrollment management data.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Excel.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Highly effective use of computers, related software, and third-party technologies.
• Able to multi-task daily.
• Ability to work independently and as a part of a team in a high-volume and ever-changing
environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s degree is preferred.
• Experience with Ellucian Banner is preferred.

Salary Information

Salary commensurate with experience up to a budget max of $128,000.
