Job Description Summary
The Internet of Things for Precision Agriculture (IoT4Ag) is a National Science Foundation (NSF) Engineering Research Center (ERC) headquartered at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Engineering and Applied Science. The ERC is a multi-university partnership with Purdue University, the University of California - Merced, and the University of Florida. The Center aims to ensure food, energy, and water security by advancing technology to increase crop production while minimizing the use of energy and water resources and the impact of agricultural practices on the environment. To realize this mission, IoT4Ag creates and translates to practice Internet of Things (IoT) technologies for precision agriculture, along with training and educating a diverse workforce to address the societal grand challenge of food, energy, and water security for decades to come.
Under supervision of the Managing Director of the Center, the Administrative and Outreach Coordinator will work closely and collaboratively with the Center's faculty leadership to assist with internal operations and support external outreach and communications efforts.
Job Description
Working closely with the Managing Director and coordinating priorities with Center leadership to help fulfill the organization's mission and goals across all four core campuses, the Coordinator will assist with ensuring smooth internal operations and coordinating IoT4Ag's internal and external communications, including the following:
- Coordinate communications and engagement with IoT4Ag members,
advisors, current and potential IoT4Ag partner organizations, and
the public
- Collate and maintain Center membership and programmatic
information from participating universities, including internal
databases and external resources
- Work with Center leadership on assessment and data management
of outreach, professional development, and community
activities
- Assist with the development of content and related materials
for education, diversity, and research programs
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in education, communications, technology, or related field and a minimum of two years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
● Excellent writing and oral communication skills
● Ability to serve as a creative self-starter and a team player
● Skilled at managing multiple projects, meeting deadlines and prioritizing
● Excellent attention to detail
● Ability to manage Center operations in a largely virtual environment
● Ability to represent the organization in a professional and positive manner
● Strong and proven ability to communicate effectively and tactfully online
● Experience in navigating social media platforms (Twitter, YouTube, LinkedIn)
● Proficiencies in Microsoft Office programs, Google Suite, WordPress, Zoom, Slack, MailChimp, AirTable, and Canva, and/or willingness to learn
● Strong belief in the mission and values of IoT4Ag, including a commitments to supporting diversity and a culture of inclusion
Desired Experience:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience and competency in one or more of the following areas:
● Creation and management of web-based membership, educational, or training programs
● Preparation and dissemination of written and visual communications, especially related to
STEM, agriculture, or other technical fields
● Development and administration of diversity, equity, and inclusion activities
● Project management, event coordination, and community outreach activities
● Writing and conducting program evaluation and assessment
