Position Summary:
The Office of Research and Faculty Development is seeking one Proposal Development Specialist position or one Senior Proposal Development Specialist position.
Both the Proposal Development Specialist and the Senior Proposal Development Specialist work within a team-based environment to support the university's strategic initiatives to grow research, scholarship, and creative activities across all disciplines. These positions provide grant-related consultation and proposal development support to faculty and staff in departments, centers, and offices throughout the University of Idaho.These positions will perform proposal, research, and faculty development activities that facilitate both individual faculty members and research teams to become more competitive in securing external funding, while providing detailed proposal development assistance throughout all stages of proposal conceptual development and refinement.
The Senior Proposal Development Specialist has a particular focus working with the Director of Research and Faculty Development to strategically identify and provide assistance in the development of large scale, multidisciplinary, and/or multi-investigator federal proposals and projects of university strategic importance.Successful applicant will be hired at the level for which they are qualified.Salary Range depending on education and experience:
- Proposal Development Specialist - $50,000 or higher DOE
- Senior Proposal Development Specialist - $60,000 or higher DOE
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, biomedical sciences, environmental science, social sciences, humanities, or other related fields.
- Three years of full-time employment in a related position (e.g., research administration, communications, writer/editor, researcher)
- Demonstrated experience editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
- Experience working both independently and in teams
- Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines, multitask and complete tasks with multiple interruptions and distractions.
- Demonstrated experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.
Senior Proposal Development Specialist
- Five years of full-time employment in a related position (e.g., research administration, communications, writer/editor, researcher)
- Demonstrated experience editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills and ability to establish and maintain professional relationships.
- Experience working both independently and in teams
- Experience managing multiple projects under tight deadlines, multitask and complete tasks with multiple interruptions and distractions.
- Demonstrated experience using computer software and applications for word processing, email, internet searches, and data organization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Masters or Doctoral Degree
- Broad understanding of college/university research activities
- Working knowledge of federal granting agencies
- Experience in developing and deliver presentations
- Experience reviewing and editing documents for clarity, tone, and responsiveness to instructions
- Experience using funding databases
Senior Proposal Development Specialist
