Organizational Unit Overview

 

The Division of Infectious Diseases at The Brody School of Medicine is dedicated to the treatment of persons infected with HIV in Eastern North Carolina. Our physicians and physician extenders currently provide care for more than 1,700 HIV patients in our clinic in Greenville. Faculty members are currently collecting data to address the issue of the disproportionate infection rate of HIV in African Americans. The division is involved in many clinical trials involving HIV therapies. Our clinical trials involve HIV, COVID, C. Difficile, and Staphylococcal bacteremia. These trials provide needed drugs to persons who may otherwise not be able to receive treatment. Our division also has an active outpatient infusion clinic.

 

Job Duties     

 

The Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases at the Brody School of Medicine, East Carolina University is recruiting a faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor, Clinical Associate Professor, Clinical Professor OR Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor commensurate with qualifications; tenure track or fixed-term appointment available.

 

The successful candidate will be BC/BE in Internal Medicine and Infectious Disease. Clinical duties will include inpatient consults, outpatient office visits, and teaching medical students, residents and ID fellows. Clinical research is strongly encouraged. The Division’s current strengths are Infection Control/Hospital Epidemiology, HIV medicine and clinical trials, viral diseases, including SARS-CoV-2, and antibiotic stewardship. About 90 minutes from the Carolina beaches, Greenville enjoys a year round climate with an average temperature of 60 degrees.

 

Minimum Education/Experience         

 

  • Must have an MD or DO degree from an appropriately accredited institution.
  • Must have completed at least a three year Internal Medicine Residency and at least a two year Infectious Diseases Fellowship and be Board Eligible/Certified in Internal Medicine and Infectious Diseases.

License or Certification Required by Statute or Regulation        

 

Must have a current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in North Carolina prior to employment.
