Position Summary
The Chemical Biology Group of Dr. Han Xiao at Rice University is looking for Postdoctoral Research Associates to work on antibody and immune therapies. We are looking for scholars with a strong background in targeted therapy. Experience in animal work, antibody therapy, bispecific antibody therapy, and/or other immunotherapy is a plus. Essential Functions
- Maintains bacterial/mammalian cells and performs biomolecular purification to prove/manipulate biological systems
- Designs in vitro and in vivo experiments for testing in murine models
- Develops novel antibody constructs for targeted therapies
- Develops efficient production methods for antibody constructs- Documents, analyzes, and maintains research data by keeping records on murine models and analyzing murine samples via cell-based assays, flash & liquid chromatography, Western blotting, and plate readers.
- Mentors, oversees, and/or trains junior research team members
- Publishes and presents research findings
- Provides academic services (i.e., teaching classes) to the department as required
- Performs all other duties as assigned
- Supervise and mentor graduate and undergraduate students in the lab
- Doctorate degree in chemistry, biology, bioengineering, or related fields
- No substitutions for education or experience allowed
- Knowledge of targeted therapy methods, including monoclonal antibodies and immunotherapies
- Able to produce antibody constructs
- Knowledge of modern research of concepts and principles of biological systems and data collection/analyses, including mammalian cell culture, microscopy, gel electrophoresis, flow cytometry, cell assays, and transfection
- Able to purify/characterize enzymes/antibodies and isolate/analyze DNA, RNA, proteins
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills, oral presentation skills, and a desire to develop these to a high level
- Skill in writing scholarly papers based on ongoing research with accompanying supporting information using Microsoft Word and/or ChemDraw and managing the journal publication process
- Able to work independently and professionally with minimal supervision and direction
- Degree in chemical biology, molecular biology, cell biology, or immunology
- Experience in antibody therapy, bispecific antibody therapy, and/or other immunotherapy
- Experience with animal works (specifically mouse handling, including daily care, administering injections/samples, drawing samples, and euthanasia)
