The College of Business at the University of Montana is seeking to fill a tenure track position in the Management & Marketing department with the appointment starting August 2023. The expectations for this employee include but aren't limited to: teaching at the undergraduate and/or master’s levels, maintaining an active research agenda, and engaging in professional and service activities. The specific service requirement of this position is to serve as faculty Director for the University of Montana Entertainment Management (UMEM) certificate program. The faculty Director is expected to teach and advise students in the certificate program as well as represent the certificate to the college, university, and community. Required qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a business discipline, or a closely related discipline (e.g., sports marketing or hospitality management) from an accredited institution prior to the starting date of employment.
  • Demonstrated potential to publish peer-reviewed research or recent peer-reviewed journal publications in fields of expertise and an active, ongoing research agenda.
  • Demonstrated ability to teach entertainment management and/or event management, in addition to other business courses related to the applicant’s discipline.
Preferred qualifications
  • Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards.
  • Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of diverse students (e.g., Native Americans, first generation college students,, military veterans).
  • Relevant business experience in entertainment, hospitality, or tourism related industries.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage the business community.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Appointment to the rank of associate professor requires research publications and years of teaching service at an accredited institution commensurate with the rank of associate professor. Salary is dependent on qualifications and is comparable with peer universities in the region.

Housed within the Department of Management & Marketing, UMEM offers certificates at the undergraduate and graduate level.
