Job Summary

Install and maintain electrical systems of low voltage and line voltage. Maintain fire alarm panels, fire alarm sensors, horns, strobes, and devices, wiring, transformers, circuit breakers, UPS systems, alarm systems. Respond to fire panel alarms, troubleshoot, reset, repair. Install and maintain lighting systems, equipment, timers, switches, circuit breakers, devices, etc. Respond to elevator and standby generator issues, troubleshoot and repair. Help as needed with electronic locks.

Responsibilities
  • Perform related duties as assigned to support the mission of the University
  • Install, maintain, repair and overhaul low voltage electronic systems. These systems include, but are not limited to, electronic key access, panic alarms, smoke detectors, fire alarm systems, elevator systems
  • Coordinate all electrical product safety recalls and alert directives posted for immediate attention
  • Serve as contact for University Police for afterhours call backs
  • Perform ongoing preventative maintenance testing and inspections to ensure most dependable services are offered to end user
  • Select materials and equipment at competitive prices
  • Prepare daily log sheets accounting for full work schedule (all tasks accomplished by employee for that specific day)
  • Follow all safety and other risk management policies in performance of work and mechanical spaces


Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Other Required Qualifications
  • Licensed to handle, repair and install all low voltage electronic systems within a University setting and comply with State and Federal requirements within referenced trade

Required Experience
  • Four (4) years of related work experience


Proposed Salary

$18.41 - $21.34 per hour

This is a non-exempt position paid on a biweekly basis.

  • Thorough and proven knowledge of low voltage wiring, lighting systems, alarm systems, audio and video systems, irrigation systems, electrical test equipment
  • Current knowledge on industry standards, updates and new technologies offered

  • Effective communication (verbal and written), organizational and human relations skills
