Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Director of Student Outreach and Recruitment Services the Associate Director of Student Outreach and Recruitment, the Associate Director, Student Outreach and Recruitment administers and directs outreach and recruitment efforts aimed at prospective students including, undergraduate first-time freshmen, new and returning transfer students, parents, counselors and related partnership programs. The incumbent supervises professional staff, interns and volunteers; creates a team-oriented environment and encourages staff development.
  • Oversees and supervises college preparatory and transfer initiatives and develops student learning outcomes, applies learning centered concepts in design of programs and services and conducts assessments.
  • Works in collaboration with university faculty and staff, and with personnel at public and private high schools, community colleges and community agencies as it relates to recruitment and outreach efforts.
  • Coordinates and supervises intersegmental outreach and recruitment efforts with other CSU campuses, the Chancellor's Office, the University of California, community colleges, and K-12 schools.

Qualifications
  • Equivalent to graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a Bachelor's degree in a job-related field. Master's degree, preferred.
  • Equivalent to five years of progressively responsible professional/administrative experience; with two of the five years in a managerial role preferred.
  • Extensive experience in strategic planning and executing outreach and recruitment programs and experience in collaboration with representatives from other colleges and universities is a plus.



Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Leadership
  • Knowledge of outreach, recruitment and admissions processes and practices. Demonstrated ability to keep open lines of communication with faculty and administrators, school officials, parents and students from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds, community agencies, and other institutions of higher learning in an effort to achieve program goals.
  • Ability to manage, supervise, and coordinate the efforts of a large staff in the accomplishment of program goals; assess qualifications and potential of candidates for employment through application review, personal interviews, and reference checks; communicate effectively with diverse audiences; coordinate and execute major events; and be self-motivating/monitoring and a positive role model for staff. Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • Lead diverse teams to support the operational mission and vision of employers by fostering an ethical, inclusive and collegial work environment.
    • Demonstrated ability to support ongoing improvement through courageous, resilient, and catalytic leadership.
    • Lead varying initiatives through a collaborative, service-oriented and communicative approach.
    • Demonstrated commitment to employee development, recognition, and accountability to further operational goals.



    Pay, Benefits, & Work Schedule
    • Salary is commensurate with knowledge, skills, and experience. The University offers excellent fringe benefits.
    • The anticipated HIRING RANGE: $85,000 to $90,000, dependent upon qualifications and experience.
    • The position is currently hybrid (4 days in office, 1 day remote); however, this is subject to change based on student and/or operational needs.
