Position Summary:
The College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences is seeking a Program Coordinator for the Cultivating Indigenous Research Communities for Leadership in Education and STEM (CIRCLES) Alliance. The Program Coordinator will work under Dr. Philip Stevens but will also be involved in supporting Program Principal Investigators in the College of Education, Health and Human Sciences and the College of Natural Resources. The Program Coordinator will support project leaders towards the goals of student recruitment, retention in graduate degrees and in expanding academic specializations in Indigenous research and education. A key part of this role will be to help build new professional learning communities for educators serving Indigenous communities and to expand research capacity that promotes reciprocal and sovereignty-affirming partnerships with regional tribal nations. This is a full-time, 12-month academic position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • B.S. or B.A. in Education, Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Natural Resources with a social science focus, Business Administration or a related discipline. Four years of experience as a program coordinator/assistant may replace the Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Two years progressively responsible experience compiling financial information, preparing summaries and financial reports.
  • Editing and writing business correspondence using proper grammar and punctuation as demonstrated in application materials.
  • Working in a team-oriented environment to accomplish shared goals.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • M.A./M.S./MEd in Education, Indigenous Studies, Anthropology, Natural Resources with a social science focus, or Business Administration or a related discipline.
  • Enrolled Tribal Citizen in a Federally Recognized Tribe (Morton v. Mancari, 1974)
  • Experience interpreting and applying terms and conditions of grants and contracts.
  • Experience with land-based/place-based Science Education.
  • Experience working with Tribal Nations, Native and Indigenous communities, and K-12 educators in formal or informal contexts.
