Digital Media and Web Manager

About the Opportunity

The Digital Media and Web Manager leads website management, digital strategy, and user experience for the College in partnership with Northeastern University's Information Technology Services. Reporting to the Director of Marketing and Communications, the Digital Media and Web Manager is responsible for overseeing website and intranet functionality and optimization, and developing, updating, and maintaining website content while ensuring consistent branding and streamlining user experience for all key stakeholders. This position works closely with the Marketing and Communications and Creative Departments on high-level content strategy and execution and must have a strong understanding of strategic communications. The Digital Media and Web Manager will have the opportunity to ideate and influence digital strategy across the College, including leading website strategy and collaborating with the Marketing Manager on social media content and e-newsletters. This role will also oversee and train College staff to update the site as needed and lead project management of an upcoming website redesign process with an outside firm.

Qualifications: The ideal candidate should have a Bachelor's Degree in website development, computer science, information systems, communications, digital strategy, or a related field and 4-6 years related work experience, or 8-10 years of experience in lieu of a degree. Previous experience in higher education is a plus. Must have significant professional experience with web content management, digital communications strategy, and editing/proofreading. Must also be able to acquire and understand technical information, as well as communicate complex technical information to audiences of varying technological skill. Excellent organizational and project management skills are needed, including project conceptualization, project goals, scope, participant responsibilities, delivery dates, project follow-up, and evaluation. Strong ability to manage multiple assignments while working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment is required. The ability to maintain and extend our CMS, both independently and in partnership with outside vendors when needed, is essential. This requires fluency in WordPress themes, architecture and plugins; working knowledge of general IT/web infrastructure and experience with various web technologies. Familiarity with modern web development pipeline technologies, especially Git version control, preferred. Experience with SEO, SEM and website analytics. Strong troubleshooting, customer service, creativity and problem solving, time management, attention to detail and interpersonal skills are required, including patience with non-technical staff. The ability to maintain a positive attitude and work well independently, within a team environment and with external vendors as well as a variety of internal audiences is essential.
