Position Summary:

Reporting to the Provost, the RN/ADN to BSN Program Director is responsible for directing the Bachelor of Science The RN/ADN to BSN Program, including positioning the program to maintain Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation; recruiting, hiring developing, and assessing faculty; working with Admissions to recruit and admit students; advising and working with Advising to provide student support; overseeing the curriculum; establishing practicum/internship experiences in conjunction with the faculty; and conducting community outreach and negotiation to establish formalized partnerships essential to the program. The Director also teaches the equivalent of one three credit course per semester, annualized.

Incumbents must possess proven ability to effectively work with culturally, linguistically, and ethnically diverse faculty, staff, and students. They are expected to have excellent oral and written communication skills along with strong Information technology literacy skills such as Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc.)

Minimum Qualifications:

A Master’s degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university is required, along with three (3)- five (5) years of professional experience in higher education program administration or a combination of education, training, and experience which would lead to the competencies required for successful performance of the position’s essential duties.

Successful Candidate must have or must possess:
  • Experience with CCNE accreditation;
  • Three to five years’ teaching experience;
  • Experience developing curriculum;
  • Ability to motivate and manage a team at a distance;
  • Unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse in a US state or territory;
  • Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing from a regionally accredited college or university;
  • Minimum three (3) to five (5) years teaching experience in an online environment;
  • Experience leading an online BSN program;
  • Experience developing online curriculum using UDL, inclusive design, and culturally responsive principles.
Example of Job Duties:

Under the direction of the Provost, the Director, RN/ADN to BSN Program, is accountable for supervising all adjuncts in the BSN program and effective performance in these essential areas:
  • Provides leadership to maintain Commission for Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) accreditation in collaboration with program faculty and college staff to include but not be limited to developing the documents and procedures required to maintain accreditation; developing a system to obtain the required documentation; and planning and leading accreditation site visits.
  • Recruits and selects program faculty (adjunct) to serve as instructors and course developers;
  • Evaluates faculty, integrates programs for professional development, and develops the faculty as a team;
  • Works with faculty to ensure that curriculum is current using best practices in curriculum design, teaching, and learning strategies, and meets national accreditation requirements;
  • Develops and manages articulation agreements with feeder colleges and health care facilities, in conjunction with the Registrar’s Office and Admissions;
  • Performs outreach to practice communities, to include the establishment and strengthening of Clinical Affiliate Agreements for students’ required practice-based learning experiences;
  • Assures faculty and students meet the requirements of Clinical Affiliate Agreements for engagement in practice-based learning experiences;
  • Initiates development of program expansion opportunities;
  • Leads process to attain and maintain alignment with state regulatory requirements;
  • Leads alignment with state and national professional associations as applicable;
  • Assesses program goals, including student learning outcomes and program outcomes;
  • Works with appropriate personnel to mediate student and faculty concerns and resolve conflicts;
  • Works with admissions and academic counselors to develop and employ enrollment management, retention and completion strategies essential for student success;
  • Develops, assembles, and recommends annual budgets by researching, reviewing, and analyzing historic trends and projecting future needs; controls and authorizes expenditures within the limitations of approved budgets;
  • Teaches the equivalent of three credits per semester, annualized;
  • Participates in at least one professional development activity each year;
  • Stays current on changes in the nursing discipline/profession that impact the program.
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, the incumbent is required to carry out the essential duties of: Attendance and participation at convocation and commencement ceremonies; Service on assigned committees and task forces; Attendance and participation at committee, staff, informational and professional meetings. These may involve attendance at evening or weekend events.

Starting Salary:

Anticipated salary; $90,301 approximate annual plus excellent State of CT medical insurance, retirement, and related fringe benefits.

Selection Procedure:
