The Rehabilitation Research and Training Center, School of Education, has an exciting opportunity for a Web Applications Developer!

Established in 1983, the Virginia Commonwealth University RRTC provides resources for professionals, individuals with disabilities, and their representatives. The center includes a team of nationally and internationally renowned researchers that are committed to developing and advancing evidence-based practices to increase the hiring and retention for individuals with disabilities. The center has 100+ faculty and grant funded staff through a variety of funding sources: state, federal and foundation grants. VCU RRTC’s major areas of focus include Employment of People with Disabilities, Employer Practices for Individuals with Disabilities, Autism, Customized Employment, Transition from School to Work, Post-Secondary Education, Traumatic Brain Injury, and Social Security Policy. The RRTC is an off-campus grant-funded center located a few blocks from Oliver Hall on the Monroe Park campus and situated within the School of Education.

Reporting to the Assistant Director of Instructional Technology, the Web Applications Developer will:
• Provide technical and consultative support services to the user community to enhance and facilitate academic, education, and departmental objectives by ensuring optimal system use and performance.
• Serve as a support IT position in the Center.
• Provide applications programming.
• Assist users with software applications and features; install, configure, and modify applications.
• Create and maintain databases, hardware/software, and systems.
• Provide technical advice.
• Integrate technical tools and applications for faculty/staff instruction and projects, and create multimedia programs and projects.

Position Overview:
• Assist the RRTC Web Unit in translating systems needs by writing application software and integrating systems.
• Collaborate with RRTC faculty and staff to design and create online databases.
• Modify and maintain existing web-based applications and databases as assigned in response to changes in user specifications.
• Integrate technical tools and applications to produce multimedia instructional materials and projects for Center faculty and staff.
• Assist RRTC faculty and staff with software applications and features; install, configure, and modify applications.
• Provide technical and consultative support services to enhance and facilitate academic, educational, and departmental objectives by ensuring optimal system use and performance:
• Maintain hardware, software, and systems.
• Provide technical advice.
• Serve as a support IT position to Center faculty and staff as well as to the stakeholders who access the Center’s websites and databases.
• This position is eligible to work in a hybrid alternative work arrangement.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree specific to Information Technology from an accredited college or university, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. (For example, web development, application programming, relational database design, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.)
• Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU.
• Demonstrated proficiency with Adobe ColdFusion, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, and SQL/relational database design; willingness to learn additional applications.
• Demonstrated proficiency with office productivity applications; e.g. Microsoft Office suite, Google, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team on projects.
• Ability to be precise, thorough, reliable, capable of working independently, and adaptable to frequent changes in work assignment.
• Ability to reason, think logically, and analyze situations in order to resolve problems or concerns.
• Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Familiarity with the Canvas learning management system.

Salary Range: 60,000 - 70,000
