Position Summary

The Case Management Director will assist in the effective management, leading and directing the wellbeing advising/ case management services and operations and staff in the Student Wellbeing Offi ce . They will provide individual advising and consultations on mental health and administrative issues for faculty, staff, students and student family members. Other duties include training and development, student crisis response and participation in the development and implementation of plans, policies and procedures to manage institutional risk and uphold the University’s mission and values. The Case Management Director will assist in expanding and improving services that address a broad range of student wellbeing issues while targeting students with at-risk behavior by providing targeted intervention, one-on-one advising, and programming in wellbeing education. They will evaluate existing student cases and policy changes and carry out duties of director in director’s absence.

Salary : $65,000 - $70,000 annually

Essential Functions
  • Provides guidance and leadership in the wellbeing advisor case management team
  • Provides case management and wellbeing advising for students whose behavior, academic progress, or mental or physical impairment indicate a need for assistance, identifying students’ problems and arranging for needed services, both on and off campus
  • Provides advice, guidance, case management and information for students in distress
  • Maintains case history records, and prepares reports and evaluation of wellbeing advising/case management program
  • Assists in creating and delivering mental health and academic success, educational training and programming for Rice students, faculty, staff, students and their families as needed, based on the current educational needs of the University
  • Assists in planning, organizing and delivering wellbeing education and training to students as individuals and/or group settings. Including education and training in mental health, stress management, interpersonal relations and sexual violence
  • Coordinates with other offices on campus to implement University-wide education and training that proactively impact undergraduate and graduate student well-being and educational success
  • Employee may be assigned or required to perform additional duties to the benefit of the department or University
  • Performs all other duties as assigned
Additional Functions
  • Provide crisis intervention and triage of students in crisis
  • Serves as a primary contact and resource for students through post-hospitalization, medical leaves / withdrawals and coordinates the medical readmission process with students and other university departments
  • Provide leadership for advising services, including defining and refining the case management service mode l and continuously monitors delivery of services and care for quality, effectiveness and compliance
  • Reviews Initial Assessments and assigns students to advisors
  • Establishes systems that support efficient and effective delivery of service s to ensure wellbeing advising case management service plan philosophy is cohesively presented throughout the program
  • Carries out duties of the director in director’s absence
  • Serves as a member of the Consultation and Assessment Team, which responds to and helps to coordinate on-going follow-up for students in crisis
  • Takes on call days as assigned
  • Facilitate weekly team meetings including, but not limited to, managing agenda, action items, documentation of quality improvement efforts, follow-up on tasks assigned, and reporting out in management team meetings with the Program Director and Associate Dean.
  • Provides guidance and point of contact to student organizations and coordinates collaboration with other student groups and offices around campus
  • Assists in the process of selecting and recruiting students for the program . Provides leadership and supervision for student workers and interns assigned to the department
Required Qualifications
  • Master’s Degree in counseling, social work, public health or closely related field
  • Texas license in professional counseling or social work, LPC, LCSW or LMSW
  • 5 years of direct experience working with adolescents, young adults or students in high school, higher education or behavioral health settings
  • Must be able to have a flexible schedule and work in the evenings and weekends
Skills Required
  • Advanced k nowledge of well‐being case management or well‐being education / community level social services to a culturally diverse young adult population
  • Outreach specialist
  • Fundamental knowledge of diagnosis, treatment and discharge planning
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in supervising case managers or mental health professionals
  • 5 or more years of experience providing well-being case management or well-being education/community level social services to a culturally diverse young adult population (includes experience gained in internships and/or other related pre-master’s experience)
  • Knowledge and experience using electronic media for outreach, record keeping database system, and other software applications
