Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant Professor (RAP) in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, School of Public Health (Ref.: 519141), to commence as soon as possible, on a two or three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in bioinformatics, epidemiology, artificial intelligence, computer science or a related discipline. They should demonstrate (i) evidence of international recognition and scholarship; (ii) the ability to work across disciplines towards new research initiatives; (iii) a strong track record of high-quality research as indicated by publications and external grants; and (iv) a strong commitment to engage students in inquiry-based learning at postgraduate level. Research experience in the epidemiology of infectious diseases including antimicrobial resistance and other emerging/re-emerging infections would be an advantage.

The appointee will conduct epidemiological research with a focus on data generation and data analysis in particular on antimicrobial resistance to support evidence-based control policies. He/She will collate and curate massive databases from unique data resources and develop novel, deep and frontier analytics for improving public health practices. He/She will teach public health courses relevant to infectious diseases, epidemiology and biostatistics; supervise junior research staff and students; and assist in administrative, operational and other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
