Position Summary:

Work with one of the largest Campus Ministry Teams in higher education serving a student body diverse in faith background and demographic composition. We invite qualified applicants to apply for our Campus Minister - Neighborhood and LatinX/Hispanic Ministry opening!

Our Campus Ministry team embodies a commitment to Catholic and Marianist ideals while cultivating the faith life of the campus community through transformative encounters with God. This position is a full-time, 10.5 month role that includes health, dental and vision insurance; retirement; disability; tuition assistance for dependents and remission for employees; vacation and sick time accrual; and professional development opportunities over the 12-month calendar year. The person in this role does not live in residence on campus.

As a member of the Neighborhood Campus Ministry Team, the person will initiate opportunities for spiritual growth; engage in evangelization and outreach; create opportunities for Catholic catechesis, faith formation, and religious literacy; build faith communities; provide spiritual accompaniment, pastoral care and crisis response; and foster student leadership in ministry for a portion of the 3000 students that reside in our student neighborhood on campus and for LatinX/Hispanic undergraduate students, both commuters and those living on campus. Examples of Campus Ministry programs and collaborative endeavors that cultivate faith and spiritual growth for the LatinX/ Hispanic community include celebrating Dia De Los Muertos, Las Posadas, Marian patronal feast days, assisting with Bilingual masses, and other opportunities to meet student needs. Currently, about 600 of 8500 undergraduate students identify as LatinX/ Hispanic, therefore UD’sCampus Ministry cultivates a culture of faith reflective of the rich diversity of our LatinX/ Hispanic students.
In light of the job duties associated with this position, the University considers the individual holding this position to be acting as a minister of the Catholic faith.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma with post-high school educational engagement (i.e. certifications, technical schooling, etc.)
Evidence of theological training/formation suitable for ministry
One-year full-time ministry experience or equivalent (such as at least 2 years part-time professional ministry OR 3+ years volunteering in a ministry capacity)
Desire to embody Catholic and Marianist traditions as a practicing Catholic, exhibiting public conduct and ministerial practices reflective of the teachings of the Catholic Church (clarified in hiring process).
Flexibility and willingness to work late evenings (roughly 2 nights/week) and some weekends
Willingness/desire to work with underrepresented communities
Effective written and verbal communication skills (English proficiency required)

Preferred Qualifications:

While not everyone may possess all of the preferred qualifications, the ideal candidate will bring many of the following:

Bachelor’s Degree
Master’s Degree (Theology, Pastoral Ministry, Religious Studies, Divinity, or related field)
Two years Campus Ministry/youth/young adult ministry
Direct higher education experience, particularly in ministry
Knowledge of or experience serving LatinX/Hispanic communities, ideally including strategies to engage and support LatinX/ Hispanic students at a predominantly white institution
Outreach and Evangelization among students in a college campus ministry setting
Developing and implementing creative faith development programs for youth/young adults
Ability to recruit, train, and supervise undergraduate student leaders
Articulating Catholic theological perspectives with breadth and depth and bring them to life among college students
Pastoral care and crisis response, including bereavement
Ability to supervise and mentor graduate students in a pastoral ministry setting
Practicing cultural competency in ministry with attention to diversity, equity, and inclusion and dialogue across difference
Self-starter with the ability to organize and manage multiple projects
Bi/Multilingual competence

A federal court on December 7, 2021, issued a ruling that suspends the COVID-19 vaccine requirement that applies to federal contractors nationwide. With this development, the University will pause any enforcement action against employees who have not complied with the requirement to be fully vaccinated by Dec. 8, 2021 or to have requested an exemption to maintain their employment status.
