Project Manager, Workday Implementation

Position Details
Information Technology Services ( ITS ) is responsible for implementing and supporting the development and delivery of world class computing and digital support to Wesleyan University faculty, staff, and students in support of the University’s mission. In the summer of 2023, Wesleyan’s Human Resources, Finance, and Student offices will begin transitioning from PeopleSoft to Workday.
Reporting to the Senior Director of Enterprise Systems, the Project Manager will oversee all stages of the project and project delivery and ensure an effective partnership between campus constituents (Executive Sponsors, Steering Committee, and Implementation Team), the Implementation Partner, and Workday.

Responsibilities include:

  • Coordinate Wesleyan resources for project implementation through all project phases.
  • Define, document, and track project scope, budget, and timelines.
  • Communicate key project plans and changes including requirements, quality assurance plans, schedule, and scope changes.
  • Identify issues and risks as they arise, escalating decisions in a timely manner to Steering Committee and Executive Sponsors as needed.
  • Serve as the main source of information about the project to the stakeholders and external teams.
  • Through Workday training modules, develop an understanding of Workday processes, workflow, and reporting.
  • Leverage that Workday understanding to coordinate the Implementation Team’s change management, training, and communication efforts with regular updates to key stakeholders including the Steering Committee, Faculty, Staff, and Students via established committee structures, regular meetings, and a project website.
  • Foster robust and productive collaborations between the implementation partner’s team and Wesleyan’s project team.
  • Ensure and document final acceptance by Wesleyan of project deliverables including all processes or procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position offers a hybrid schedule which can include time in the office and working remotely. A remote option will only be considered if you are living within a reasonable driving distance of Wesleyan in a New England State (MA, VT, NH, ME, CT, RI) or NY.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Experience leading technical and cross-functional projects with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.

Experience managing an ERP Implementation.

Project Management Certification (e.g., PMP , Six Sigma, etc)

Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present to diverse constituent groups, from students to senior leadership.

Experience with software life cycle and project management tools.

Excellent interpersonal skills, leveraged to build trust and foster collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience implementing in either Workday Platform or Student Platform in Higher Education Experience migrating from PeopleSoft to Workday
