Overview
Under direction, incumbents must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work.

CERF explores RF properties of superconductor magnetometer sensors and has developed a Python based software suite which automates instrument measurements as well as performs post-processing analysis. To expand testing capabilities, CERF requires assistance to automate laboratory experiments, clean datasets, and analyze measurement results using Python or MATLAB.



Responsibilities
4.1 The Contractor shall assist in:

4.1.1 Improving the pre-existing user interface (UI) functionality and creating techniques for data analysis from laboratory experiments using Python. In addition, the student may be asked to help in one (or more) of the following three areas. There is no need for the student to be knowledgeable in the all areas simultaneously, only one will suffice for the position.
4.1.2 Device Measurement.
4.1.2.1 Asist in laboratory and local field testing of superconductor magnetometer sensors
4.1.2.2 Asist in laboratory and local field testing of cryogenic packaging for magnetometer sensors
4.1.3 Database Management
4.1.3.1 Design a database to house measurement data for use in an internal laboratory setting
4.1.4 Data Visualization
4.1.4.1 Design data visualization techniques outside of the UI to aid automated report generation
4.1.4.2 Design data visualization techniques outside of the UI to investigate data collected in database designed in Section 3.1.2
4.1.5 Data Analysis
4.1.5.1 Perform data analysis methods investigate trending in measured laboratory data collected from one magnetometer sensors in various settings configurations
4.1.5.2 Perform data analysis methods investigate trending in measured laboratory data collected from multiple magnetometer sensors in a single settings configuration
4.1.5.3 Perform data analysis methods investigate trending in measured laboratory data collected from multiple magnetometer sensor in various settings configurations

4.2 Characterizing operational capability of methods described in 3.1.

4.2.1 Submit Monthly Status Reports and Bi-Weekly Time Reports in accordance with the base contract. The student shall provide a bi-weekly report to the supervisor. The student should meet with supervisor, preferably in person, but email and telephone meetings are also accepted, to explain the results and accomplishments


Qualifications
Graduate Student I: Must have course work in the discipline requested on the task order Statement of Work. The student must be at the Senior level and have experience in 100% of the task requirements and be able to accomplish 90% of the work independently.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Undergraduate Junior or Senior Level or Graduate in Applied Mathematics
  • Intermediate experience with Python or advanced experience with MATLAB
  • Experience with numerical methods

Required Course Work:
  • Introduction to Numerical Analysis
  • Introduction to Mathematical Modeling
  • Data Structures [for Scientists and Engineers]

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Teamwork oriented workstyle
  • Experience with data analysis and visualization
  • Experience with laboratory measurement.

SKILLS:
  • Professional writing and organizational skills
  • Excellent record keeping methods
  • Capable of writing manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals
  • Capable of independent work and taking initiative in the absence of orders
