Haverford College invites applications for a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor of Linguistics to begin Fall 2023.

The Tri-College Department of Linguistics at Haverford College seeks to hire a full-time Visiting Assistant Professor for the 2023-2024 academic year, with the possibility of renewal for one additional year pending a successful review and departmental staffing needs. (Haverford College Linguistics is part of the Tri-College Department of Linguistics, which also includes Bryn Mawr and Swarthmore Colleges.)

Candidates will be expected to teach five courses a year, including Introduction to Linguistics and Phonetics & Phonology. The ideal candidate will be able to teach effectively at all levels of the curriculum, including introductory and advanced seminar courses in their area of expertise. We seek candidates interested in thoughtful, creative, and engaged pedagogical practices. The ideal candidate will also demonstrate a commitment to creating an inclusive classroom environment where a diverse student body can learn and thrive.

Candidates should have a Ph.D. in Linguistics. The position begins July 1, 2023 for the fall semester of 2023; instruction begins September 5. It is expected that the Ph.D. will be completed prior to the start date, but ABD candidates will be considered.
