Butler University's Jordan College of the Arts, Department of Theatre seeks an Administrative Specialist. The Department of Theatre is known nationally for launching artists who transform the theatre and community. The Administrative Specialist in Theatre manages the departmental budget and ongoing curricular activities; plans, implements, and oversees department events; assists in the planning and execution of recruiting initiatives; assists the faculty in accomplishing all production-related needs; and coordinates international programs.

Responsibilities include:
  • Managing the Department of Theatre budgets
  • Assisting students with enrollment
  • Assigning student advisors and maintaining list of advisors
  • Assisting with hiring Guest Artists
  • Generating adjunct faculty contracts
  • Overseeing student worker hiring process including processing student payroll
  • Coordinating with JCA Admissions Director to create comprehensive plan for recruitment and assist/coordinate new student audition days
  • For productions, assist with contracts, marketing, creating programs and posters, and working with the Butler Arts and Events Center staff for front of house needs
  • Coordinate the department's Visiting International Theatre Artist program
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree preferred
  • Two years of successful office experience, preferably including budget management
  • Experience working with community-based organizations and minority populations
  • Valid Indiana driver's license
  • Ability to work independently but as part of a team, perform tasks as per specific institutional guidelines
  • While the general work schedule is normal hours, some evening and weekend work may be required due to the production schedule
