HOSPITALITY INSTRUCTOR PT
RICHARD J. DALEY COLLEGE
Consider joining Daley College’s Continuing Education Department as a Part-Time Hospitality Instructor. You will have the opportunity to inspire, motivate, and empower others to succeed and support their communities. Daley is working to expand programming for community members who want to increase their skills and enhance their job opportunities. We are hiring for a variety of courses offered throughout the year.
This position is responsible for teaching students in his or her particular course(s) in a professional manner. Which include preparing lesson plans, teaching and evaluating students, preparing and revising course guides and other educational materials, and developing the intellectual property of the College. Must provide professional and career advice for students pursuing careers in the foodservice industry, maintain office hours, assist students who are having difficulty with studies, and honor college policies. Must contribute to the overall operation of the College and support the mission of the institute.
- Working knowledge of hotel and restaurant operations which can be translated into the classroom environment including marketing, purchasing and financial management.
- Extensive customer service experience and operational experience required.
- Ability to instruct and guide students in learning concepts in the hospitality industry including front of house and managerial aspects of running a restaurant and hotel, beverage and wine programs and catering operations.
- Ability to translate industry expectations to the classroom
- Ability to objectively assess work produced by students using standardized forms of assessment
- Able to communicate through demonstrations of the proper techniques and procedures in a classroom setting to diverse student population
- Ability to objectively assess work produced by students using standardized forms of assessment
- Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate persuasively with tact and diplomacy.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Hospitality, Business, Culinary Management or equivalent, master’s degree preferred.
- 5+ years of industry experience in management
- 2+ years teaching at a collegiate level
- We prefer candidates with knowledge of the Blackboard Learning Management System.
- Required: Fluent in using Microsoft Office 365
- Strong mathematics and basic accounting principles and concepts from operation
- Must be self-directed and innovative
