Job Details
Carnegie Mellon University's Finance Division is seeking a motivated Senior Payroll Accountant to join our team! Reporting to the Team Lead of Payroll Accounting, you will be responsible for monthly reconciliation, journal entries, and reporting of all pay transactions into the university’s financial system (Oracle). You will troubleshoot and resolve problems and incidents in the operation of the Oracle Financials accounting system specifically, the Oracle Labor Distribution (LD) module, as well as Workday HR/Payroll system as well as identify and recommend operational improvements.
Core responsibilities include:
- Analyze and reconcile payroll transactions from Workday to Oracle
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll journal entries monthly, quarterly and yearly
- Primary point of contact to facilitate audits for internal and external auditors by providing records and documentation to auditors, preparing audit requests and payroll related information
- Work with respective end users and identify critical issues to Financial Systems Team
- Identify training and communication needs surrounding Oracle and Workday practices
- Participate in Financial Systems, and HRIS Initiatives, which may include integration of existing or new International campuses/initiatives or upgrades
- Reviewing current processes to resolve efficiencies, etc.
- Monthly reconciliation of all payroll related balance sheet accounts
- Prepare 990 forms for calendar and fiscal year review
- Provide assistance regarding questions submitted in regards to payroll accounting transactions.
- Provide assistance regarding projects supporting the overall payroll operation
- Excellent oral and written communications skills

- Ability to tackle problems as they arise

Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s degree required in Accounting or Finance is required
- A minimum of 5-8 years accounting experience, and experience with payroll information systems is preferred;
- Experience with Oracle Financials systems, specifically Oracle Labor Distribution and HR modules and Workday is highly preferred.
