Manages and oversees outreach, programs and activities to maximize students' engagement in co-curricular life/student life on campus. Directs and oversees staff in delivering all student activities, including activities programming, supervision, and related advertising. Oversees all University Commons operations and services. Coordinates the new student orientation program. Implements the strategic plan of Student Engagement in support of the University Adaptive Strategy. Supports all student development functions as directed by the Vice President, Campus Life and Dean of Students (VPCL).

  • Ensure inclusive practices when leading and executing all assigned units, programs, initiatives, and responsibilities
  • Embrace opportunities for continued growth and cultural competence
  • Plans and carries out a comprehensive array of student engagement programs and activities
  • Leads staff in planning, executing, and evaluating major campus programs and events
  • Coordinates New Student Orientation, assesses its effectiveness, and makes adjustments as needed; works collaboratively with Enrollment Management, Student Success, Residence Life, and other campus colleagues to plan and carry out all student onboarding initiatives
  • Coordinates regular, ongoing communication with students in order to evaluate existing and create new student activities to optimally address the needs of the current student body.
  • Meets annually and maintains ongoing communication with key program coordinators, especially in the areas of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion; Academic/curricular interest areas; and Athletics to nurture the development of student organizations and to connect students from these areas to co-curricular life on campus.
  • Provides leadership in expanding the use of technology in student activities programs and services.
  • Ensures strong personal presence and active engagement in activities
  • Personally participates in major student/university events outside of Campus Life. Interacts with students at events, develops relationships and makes connections to broaden these students' engagement on campus.
  • Participates in selecting appropriate technological tools related to student engagement, using these systems to target non-engaged students and reaching out to them to promote engagement in co-curricular life..
  • Spearheads the development of new student "communities".
  • Coordinates all student activities including supervision of student clubs and organizations.
  • Recruits, trains and supervises all student activity, club and organization advisors.
  • Acts as a primary Student Government Organization advisor, including the appropriate university administrative role in coordination of all Student Government elections
  • Works with the Student Government Organization to examine and revise its structure and in developing/managing its budget.
  • Assists the Student Government Organization in maximizing SGO's vibrant connection to constituent students, for example via "Listening Sessions".
  • Recruits, trains and supervises student programming assistants (SPA's).
  • Advertises and promotes all student activities via traditional means and social media.
  • Plans and carries out the student leadership series.
  • Prepares and administers budget for all student activities.
  • Oversees all University Commons and activities operations.
  • Plans and directs the management and programs of the University Commons to ensure its efficient and proper use as an important educational resource of the university.
  • Supervises professional staff, supports development and evaluation of performance goals
  • Manages departmental budget, determining the effective allocation and use of fiscal resources
  • Serves on Student Affairs Leadership Team
  • Facilitates contracted relationships, in collaboration with the Office of General Counsel
  • Cultivates relationships with, including, but not limited to Office of Institutional Diversity, Alumni Relations, Athletics, Career Education, Learning Resource Network and Disability Support Services, Facilities, Public Safety, Office of International Affairs, Enrollment Management
  • Other duties as assigned by the Vice President, Campus Life & Dean of Students.
