BASIC FUNCTION:

The Senior Associate Director of Financial Aid is responsible to the Director of Financial Aid and shall function in accordance with office and University policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Financial Aid Systems, Support, and Implementation - 50%
  • Develop and maintain all internal and external data interfaces, data reporting, set-up, and maintenance of the PowerFAIDS financial aid management system.
  • Assume primary responsibility relating to financial aid administration, including yearly implementation of complex financial aid awarding model in Powerfaids
  • Manage the integration of the financial aid system with the student information system (Colleague), admission CRM (Slate) and billing software (Colleague/Nelnet)
  • Maintain software/databases including testing new functionality, writing database algorithms for rules-based processing.
  • Translate business user needs for automation using college systems and software.
  • Maintain PowerFAIDS student financial aid portal; maximize the usability and function of the portal.
  • Create workflow processes to improve efficiency.
Financial Aid Awarding, Operations and Advising - 30%
  • Assist the Director in the general administration of the Financial Aid Office and assume primary administrative responsibility in the Director's absence.
  • Supervise and train Associate Director and Assistant Director on any onboarding, improvement or changes that need to be made in the office.
  • Award and counsel assigned caseload of students and parents about the financial aid process, including application procedures, reporting requirements and deadlines for program eligibility.
  • Assist staff in preparing and verifying files for the awarding process
Reporting and Compliance - 15%
  • Development and maintenance of quality control reports and internal audit procedures to ensure compliance with federal and university regulations and policies.
  • Assume primary responsibility for maintaining compliance with verification and awarding of assigned caseload as well as assigned caseload of direct reports.
  • Keep current on Federal regulations governing Financial Aid and update written policies and procedures.
Other - 5%
  • Participate in Professional Development Activities and coordinate special projects and training with Financial Aid Staff.
  • Prepare and present financial aid information sessions for current and prospective students and parents.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Assist with all other functions of the office and related duties as requested by the Director of Financial Aid.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: The incumbent is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.


Requirements:

A Bachelor's degree and significant professional level (7-10 years) financial aid experience are required. Master's degree preferred. Experience and knowledge with higher education student information systems and related applications such as, but not limited to Powerfaids, Ellucian Colleague & Slate. Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills are required with the ability to work effectively with students and parents. Must be able to work as part of an office team. Must be able to work occasional weekends and evenings, as necessary, to meet position responsibilities. Confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
