Minimum Qualifications

We seek a geoscientist with undergraduate geology teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory settings, specifically to teach Structural Geology ( GES 3150) as well as a writing-intensive sophomore-level science communication and career preparation course ( GES 2750 Careers in Earth and Environmental Science).

The candidate must have an M.S. or higher degree in geology or a related field at the time of appointment and must possess a strong commitment to undergraduate education.

Description of the Department or Unit

The Department of Geological and Environmental Sciences at Appalachian State University is undergraduate-only with 20 faculty members and more than 290 majors. The Department and the College of Arts and Sciences possess an array of analytical and field equipment that supports the research of 14 tenure-track faculty. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Other teaching responsibilities may include introductory geology field methods as well as geology lectures and laboratories in physical geology, historical geology, and/or environmental geology.
