Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Faculty (Rank To Be Determined)- Residency Program Director at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):

The Residency Program Director (PD) will have authority and accountability for the successful operation of the residency program and will administer and maintain an educational environment conducive to educating the residents in accordance with ACGME policies and regulations, assuring the program's excellence and delivery of the highest quality graduate medical education. This individual will provide the leadership in developing, implementing and continually updating plans for recruitment, will actively participate in program administrative management, curriculum reform and resident education and evaluation, in line with departmental academic goals. The PD must be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures.

Participate in the education of residents and fellows, including didactic, bedside and small group sessions. Assist in curriculum development and maintenance to meet requirements of Model Curriculum of Clinical Practice of EM. Participate in the annual Resident Retreat, residency candidate recruitment and interviews and act as resident mentor/advisor.

Preparing and submit of all information required and requested by the ACGME, including but not limited to the annual program resident updates to the ADS, and ensure that the information submitted is accurate, complete, and submitted on time. Provide verification of residency education for all residents, including those who leave the program prior to completion.

Provide semi-annual resident evaluations and provide each resident with documented semiannual evaluation of performance with feedback. Develop plans for any remediation programs and their implementation.

Perform or provide support for research in emergency medicine, trauma and/or related areas of study as required by the RRC-EM.
Provide service to the University, School, Department and other external professional and community agencies.

This individual will fulfill the general faculty responsibilities (teaching, practice, scholarship and service) commensurate with his or her respective faculty appointment. The individual is expected to practice, advocate and promote the highest of standards for academic achievement and integrity.

Unique duties:

Qualifications:

Medical degree from an accredited medical school required
Valid Michigan medical license required
Trained in Emergency Medicine residency program
Hold appropriate Emergency Medicine Board Certification
Knowledge of basic and/or clinical science research processes and procedures with demonstrated expertise as applicable
Ability to provide quality instruction to a variety of students

Demonstrated ethical conduct, professionalism, interpersonal skills and management abilities
Rank commensurate with credentials
