Position Title: Assistant Professor

Employment Type:     Full Time, Faculty (Tenure-Track), Salaried

Reports To: The Assistant Professor will report to the chair of the Criminal Justice department.

 

The Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice/Anthropology will teach courses in Criminal Justice as well as Anthropology.  Tenure home will be in the Department of Criminal Justice, and involve a 24-credit teaching load (4/4 teaching load). Courses taught will include forensic evidence, forensic anthropology, crime scene investigation, and other forensic science courses and general education courses as needed and within the competency of the candidate.  The position is expected to maintain an active research agenda.   In addition, the position involves service to the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies, as well as the Departments of Criminal Justice and Anthropology.

 

 

Key Job Responsibilities

Teaching (60%)

  • Teaching 4/4 courses.  Courses include forensic evidence, forensic anthropology, crime scene investigation.  And other forensic science and general education courses as needed within the competency of the candidate. Demonstrated ability to teach Forensic Science courses.

Scholarship (30%)

  • Engages in research and/or scholarly activities.

Service (10%)

  • Service to the Departments of Criminal Justice and Anthropology, the College of Social Science and Professional Studies, and the University of Wisconsin-Parkside.

 

Required Qualifications

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology or related field University/College level teaching experience Practical experience in Forensic Science.

The ideal candidate will have a willingness and ability to teach a Forensic Field School on campus during the summer.

For this position the tenure home will be Criminal Justice.  The College of Social Sciences and Professional Studies is a multidisciplinary and collegial working environment.  Both Criminal Justice and Anthropology are departments that provide supportive and collaborative opportunities.  As one of the premier Criminal Justice Programs in the University of Wisconsin system, and located in the Chicago-Milwaukee corridor, UWP offers educational and field research opportunities that are rare for forensic science scholars.
