THE DEPARTMENT OF PSYCHOLOGY AT WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, with the potential for summer appointments, Career-Track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Pullman, WA.  We seek applicants who are strongly committed to quality undergraduate education.  The area of expertise is open. However, we are looking for someone with interest in directing an undergraduate on-line degree program.  It is anticipated that the successful candidate(s) will begin the appointment on August 16, 2023.

 

Job duties:  include (a) teaching three courses (a mixture of online and in-person) per semester, (b) mentoring undergraduate students, and (c) contributing to departmental and university service.  The position will also involve a focus on online education, with the expectation that following a year of training, the applicant will become the Director of our Global Campus Psychology program, which has the potential to be a twelve-month appointment.    

 

Required Qualifications for All Ranks:  

  • An earned doctoral degree in Psychology by August 15, 2023 A demonstrated record of successful college teaching in both in-person and on-line formats A demonstrated commitment to or potential for building an inclusive, equitable, and diverse university community. 

 

 

Required Qualification for Associate Level Candidates:

 

  • Applicants at the associate level must have a minimum of five years’ experience teaching at the college-level, and evidence of leadership or university service experience.

 

Preferred Qualifications for All Ranks:

  • Postdoctoral or instructor experience since graduation; Involvement with undergraduate research as a mentor/coordinator/supervisor (e.g., honors thesis, scholarship program); Leadership/administrative experience

The Psychology Department has approximately 1,200 undergraduate majors and 60 doctoral students in the Experimental and the APA-accredited Clinical Psychology programs. The online psychology degree program has been consistently ranked within the top 25 online programs in psychology and offers students the chance to engage with their classmates and instructors outside of regular coursework in terms of TA, tutor, and research experiences, a shared online space for all majors and minors, and dedicated chapters of Psi Chi and Psych Club.
