Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Clinical Site Supervisor will assist the Director of Clinical Education ( DCE ) with students’ off-campus clinical experiences. The essential duties include supporting the DCE with student orientation, preceptor training, student assessment, and clinical tracking. The Clinical Site Supervisors will act as a liaison between the clinical site, where they are employed, and the respiratory therapy program to support the alignment of the curriculum. In this role, the Clinical Site Supervisor will assist the program’s enhancement of the student experience of belongingness, where principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion are supported.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

The Clinical Site Supervisor must be licensed by the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board and credentialed as a Registered Respiratory Therapist by the National Board for Respiratory Care.

Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience

Preference will be held for candidates with:
  • Bachelor’s degree in respiratory therapy
  • AARC Membership
Required Certifications or Licensure

NC state license and board certificate(s); (free and clear of disciplinary actions)

The Clinical Site Supervisor will not provide direct patient care in the role of Clinical Site Supervisor for the respiratory therapy program, for UNCW (University of North Carolina Wilmington) and will not be responsible for resolving academic and non-academic student disputes.

Please note, this is a temporary position. The length of the assignment will be based on department needs with the possibility of continuation. Temporary assignments cannot exceed 11 consecutive months without a full 31-day break from employment. Employees in temporary positions are not considered permanent state employees and do not earn leave. Temporary employees are subject to the Affordable Care Act guidelines.
