The University of Maryland at College Park is seeking a Director at the Institute for Governmental Service & Research in the Division of Research. The Director is responsible for leading and overseeing the Institute for Governmental Service and Research (IGSR) in all its endeavors to advance the University’s public service commitment. Responsible for sustaining IGSR’s mission to meet the needs of state and local government through a variety of programs and services, including applied research, technical assistance, education, outreach, and information technology. Plans, directs, manages, coordinates, and evaluates the operation and work of multiple functions to ensure that the Institute’s mission is advanced.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
Earned doctorate in public administration, public policy, political science, social science, education or closely related field from an accredited institution.

Experience:

  • Five to seven years progressive experience working in or with state or local governments.
  • Demonstrated administrative/managerial experience and aptitude. 
  • Three to five years increasing responsibility in managing and overseeing the work of highly-skilled researchers or professional staff.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of state, county, and municipal governments; respected professional status; success in leadership and building organizations.

Preferences:

Maryland experience preferred.
