Duties and Responsibilities
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is immediately available in the Wainwright Laboratory on Brain Aging, Cancer Immunology & Immunotherapy in the Departments of Cancer Biology and Neurological Surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine. We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Fellow for conducting original research using human glioblastoma patient-derived xenografts as well as syngeneic and humanized immunocompetent mouse glioblastoma models for studying: (i) the effects and underlying mechanisms of advanced age on outcomes from glioblastoma; as well as (ii) novel immunotherapeutic approaches that neutralize the negative effects of brain aging while simultaneously enhancing anti-glioblastoma immunity. We are a highly interactive and integrated team that utilizes sophisticated methodology involving complex genomics, molecular/cell biology, immunology/immunotherapy, and in vivo approaches to advance translational therapies for patients with glioblastoma. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in a discipline related to cell biology, immunology, aging biology, neuroscience and/or cancer research. Applicants should have strong skills in molecular, cell biology (and preferably immunology and/or neuroscience), excellent oral and written communication skills, and a publication record with at least 1 first-authored manuscript in a reputable peer reviewed journal. Previous experience with animal handling is required. Salary is commensurate with experience and will be in accordance with the NIH pay scale for Postdoctoral Fellows. Ph.D. in biochemistry, cell or molecular biology, or other discipline related to the molecular biosciences; demonstrated expertise in working with cancer stem cells to study cancer initiation and progression; a publication record consistent with background; strong communication skills, both orally and written; research experience with tissue culture, transfection, RNAi, CRISPR /Cas9, molecular cloning, retrovirus and/lentivirus production, PCR, real-time PCR, RT- PCR, co-immunoprecipitation, western blotting, fluorescence microscopy.
