The Department of Applied Physics at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering invites applications for a full-time, non-tenured, renewable faculty position at the level of Industry Assistant Professor, with a start date of September 1, 2023. The initial appointment will be for one year, renewable for longer terms contingent on performance reviews.

The department of Applied Physics offers BS degrees in Applied Physics and Physics & Mathematics. The faculty teach introductory physics courses that support the school’s engineering programs and sustainability initiative. It also offers a variety of upper-level courses for the department’s own majors.

An Industry Professor's primary roles are teaching, mentoring and educational innovation, and the position may also entail some administrative work and outreach. The normal teaching load is three courses per academic semester.

Qualifications

While we invite applicants for classroom and laboratory teaching in all areas of physics, the ability to teach courses in the field of Quantum Technology would be a plus.  You should be an excellent teacher. By the start date of the position, you should have a Ph.D. in physics or a closely related discipline and a record of industrial experience and/or teaching in these areas.

Additional Information

In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $70,000 - $125,000. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
