 William James College is currently seeking a full-time Clinical Social Worker to join our Forensic Services/Juvenile Court Clinic team in Suffolk and Norfolk Counties. The Juvenile Court Clinics (JCCs) are operated as a collaboration between the Administrative Office of the Juvenile Court (AOJC) and the Department of Mental Health (DMH). 

The primary location for this position will be in the Edward Brooke Courthouse in Downtown Boston. The JCCs provide court-ordered evaluations of youth and families from diverse racial, ethnic and linguistic backgrounds who often have complex needs and systems involvement. This position has less client contact hours than most clinical positions and includes extensive assessment report writing, record review and collateral contact as major duties.

Duties Include

  • Perform court-ordered psychological and diagnostic evaluations for the MA Juvenile Courts in status matters (Child Requiring Assistance), child abuse and neglect cases (Care and Protection), juvenile delinquency and youthful offender cases, and emergency civil commitment evaluations for psychiatric hospitalization or substance use treatment.
  • Provide oral testimony as needed on assigned cases
  • Consult with judges, probation officers, and attorneys
  • Provide consultation and training as may be requested by the Juvenile Court to clinical staff, judges, probation officers, other court personnel and others (eg. community behavioral health providers, attorneys)
  • Provide supervision to work-study students, trainees, and interns when appropriate
  • Provide referrals to court-involved youth and their families for behavioral health services in their communities, and other supports or services as needed
  • Other duties as assigned by Program Director

Required Qualifications

  • Social Work degree at the Masters Level
  • Licensed or license-eligible to practice social work in MA
  • Knowledge and experience working with children, adolescents, and families
  • Strong writing, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Commitment towards racial and social justice and equity, including a culturally humble approach to clinical work
  • Credentialed as a Certified Juvenile Court Clinician (CJCC I) per 104 CMR 33.00 OR eligible to be certified. Supervision and training for CJCC certification will be provided
  • Applicant must be able to assume employment in the U.S. without College sponsorship
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination required 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in forensic mental health and forensic assessment
  • Bilingual fluency (Spanish/English)

Salary range for this position is $69k to $75k (commensurate with licensure and experience).
