The Simmons University School of Social Work (SSW) is now accepting applications for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Practice and Associate Director for the DSW program. We seek candidates with particular expertise in the areas of social work education, leadership, ethics, and practice oriented towards anti-racism, diversity, equity, and inclusion. The DSW Associate Director works closely with the DSW Director to ensure academic excellence in the online platform of the Simmons University School of Social Work DSW Program. The DSW Associate Director is primarily engaged with activities connected to students and teaching faculty. This position also carries teaching responsibilities.
The DSW Associate Director is a direct report to the DSW Director for the administrative portion of their work. This position will start on or after January 1, 2023, subject to the selected candidate's availability. The position can be remote, with expectations of availability for campus-based activities as needed. This new position is a full-time, twelve-month, practice track faculty (non-tenure track) appointment. Rank commensurate with level of experience. Internal applicants may be considered at a faculty rank commensurate with their current position.
The DSW degree program is offered via our innovative online platform, SocialWork@Simmons. Qualifications:
- Doctorate required. Either DSW or PhD
- MSW from a CSWE-accredited program required
- A minimum of two years teaching experience in social work
education required
- A minimum of five years social work practice experience,
post-MSW
- Experience with hybrid or online-based learning platforms is
strongly preferred
- Experience mentoring doctoral students strongly
preferred
- Demonstrated expertise in the areas of inter-professional
practice and interdisciplinary social work preferred
- Strong communication skills
- Strong collaboration skills
Primary Administrative Responsibilities include:
- Collaborating with the DSW Director on DSW curriculum
development, renewal and administration; implementation of and
adherence to CSWE accreditation standards; and program
assessment
- Mentoring and evaluating adjunct faculty
- Building and sustaining DSW community culture including
implicit curriculum and engagement with DSW alumni
- Coordinating DSW student advisement
- Supporting, advising, and mentoring students including for
capstone projects
- Engaging with SSW and University student support services and
academic program administration departments
Other responsibilities include:
- Teaching DSW courses including serving as a course lead for
specific courses
- Engaging in additional SSW and University service
activities
- Engaging in ongoing professional development
activities
- Other related duties and activities
