Job Description

Job Summary

Responsible for providing visionary leadership and administrative oversight to accomplish the mission and goals of the Julieta & Frank Staggs Academy of International and STEM Studies.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and administrative services to the Academy students and staff.
  • Coordinate and direct activities related to the alignment of appropriate TAMIU curricula for Academy students, program assessment and recruitment of students.
  • Provide regular updates to TAMIU leadership and the Academy's Advisory Board regarding academy students.
  • Provide accurate reports to TEA and other regulatory bodies/agencies.
  • Ensure that all students meet their high school requirements and graduate under the Distinguished Level of Achievement Diploma
  • Supervise and evaluate staff.
  • Build, coordinate and maintain systems for managing student information and communication such as scheduling and grade reporting.
  • Coordinate and direct all Academy functions and events, budgets and resources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
  • Master's degree with principal certification


Experience:
  • Four or more years teaching experience at either the secondary school level or higher.
  • Experience as an academic or school administrator.


Preferred Education and Experience
  • Earned doctorate degree
  • Superintendent certification


Knowledge and Abilities

Knowledge of:
  • Demonstrated and strong leadership, administrative and management skills.


Ability to:
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
  • Interact effectively, professionally, and collaboratively with students, faculty, administrators, parents and the community.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize work.


Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Strong communication, public relations and interpersonal skills
  • Exhibits resourcefulness, independent action and professional judgment that are position appropriate


Licensing / Professional Certification
  • Current Principal or Mid-Management Certification
  • Current Superintendency Certification

Supervision Received/Given

This position supervises employees.

Other Requirements:
  • Evening and/or weekend work may be required.
  • This position is an ongoing 12-month appointment.
  • Appointment requires maintaining a regular schedule of attendance and on campus presence from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday-Friday.
  • Position requires on campus, face-to-face interactions.

Salary: $90,000/annually
