What you will do:
The University of Oregon Department of Physical Education and Recreation is excited for the opportunity to build our operations team by welcoming two dynamic individuals as coordinators to our PE and Rec staff. You will be part of a vital team that provides leadership, management, and administration for the department of Physical Education and Recreation which includes staffing, operations, and services of a large, complex department. This includes the Student Recreation Center, two multi-purpose indoor recreation facilities, two tennis facilities, two natural turf fields, four lighted synthetic turf fields, and an outdoor jogging track.
The Coordinators assist and support the Assistant Director for Operations in managing the program budget, supervising and mentoring a student workforce, and promoting and marketing programs and services. The coordinators are members of the business and operations team and report to the Assistant Director for Operations. These positions assist with the review, implementation, and enforcement of policies and procedures for facility operations including facility access. The coordinators also serve as the first point of contact for patrons and are responsible for ensuring that student staff meet a high standard of customer service.
These positions have joint oversight of the above responsibilities. Provided below are details demonstrating how the positions differ:
Coordinator of Operations - This position oversees and facilitates the department of Physical Education and Recreation's largest program area, open recreation. Primary service responsibilities include overseeing equipment issues, weight room and cardio area open recreation as well as locker room operations and communications. Oversight includes the staffing and supervision of approximately 50 Operation Attendant student employees.
Coordinator of Operations and Member Services - This position oversees and facilitates the department of Physical Education and Recreation's sales, outreach, and facility operations. Primary service responsibilities include overseeing Welcome Desk operations, membership services, and program registration for Intramural Sports, Group Fitness, Personal Training, Youth and Family Programs and Physical Education. Oversight includes the staffing and supervision of approximately 25 Operation Specialist student employees and 4 student outreach team members.
Evening and weekend hours may be required of both positions. Additional hours may be required during peak periods. These positions require CPR and First Aid Certification, or the ability to obtain in a timely manner.
What you need to qualify (minimum requirements):
- Bachelor's degree in Recreation Administration/Management,
Leisure Studies, Sports Management, Business, or related
field.
- One year of experience leading and managing staff or a work
team.

It is preferred, but not required, to have…(preferred qualifications):
- Master's degree in Recreation Administration/Management,
Leisure Studies, Education Administration, or related
field
- Experience in, or demonstrated understanding of collegiate
recreation facility operations, student staff oversight, and
recruitment.
- Experience with data entry and management, and knowledge of
standard computer software programs, including word processing and
business applications.
- Experience in membership sales/management and oversight of
frontline customer service operations.
- Experience with Innosoft Fusion - Recreation Management software.
- Experience with recruitment and outreach.
