Job Summary

Season Practice Start Date – FALL : August 1 Season Ending Date: NJCAA National Tournament (approx. NOVEMBER 15) Game Dates: 28 games Maximum

This agreement is in force from July 1st through June 30th. The CCRI Athletics Department reserves the right to terminate this agreement during its term if the actions or conduct of the coach or team warrant so. Inability to perform significant job responsibilities during the contract period may result in reduction to the annual compensation. Any such adjustments will be proportional to the duties not performed/required to be performed by other personnel. The amount and reason for any reduction will be discussed with you before being enacted.

The administration of all phases of an NJCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball program including: monitoring and supporting the academic success of the student-athletes; recruiting quality student-athletes; organizing and training athletes for successful competition; planning and conducting pre and post season conditioning programs. This is a professional head coaching position and all of the duties of the position must be conducted in adherence with the policies, rules, and regulations of the NJCAA, Region XXI, and the Community College of Rhode Island.

Duties and Responsibilities

Commitment to CCRI’s Mission:
· Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of a comprehensive community college.
· Work collaboratively with others in a diverse and inclusive environment.
· Work collaboratively in a diverse, inclusive and student-centered environment, with students of various learning styles, cultures, identities, and life-experiences.
· Work collaboratively with others and provide quality customer service in a diverse and inclusive environment.
Recruitment
· Recruit and retain eligible student-athletes
· Meet designated roster goals (14), established by director of athletics/physical education and the NJCAA .
· Collaboratively work with the college’s athletic staff to identify and guide prospective student-athletes through the enrollment process.
· Regularly report to the compliance office information on prospective student-athlete interest.
· Establish a comprehensive list of prospective student-athletes and regularly contact prospective student-athletes about attending Community College of Rhode Island.
· Attend Community College of Rhode Island athletic and other on-campus recruiting events.
Academics
· Collaboratively work with the compliance officer/advisor to ensure student-athletes are meeting regularly to complete academic initiatives.
· Provide direction, motivation, and advice to prepare student-athletes in the classroom
· Promote academic success through a commitment to class attendance, academic persistence, retention, and graduation.
· Communicate high academic standards within the athletic program.
Coaching
· Effectively communicate proper techniques, fundamentals, and team strategies.
· Positively represent Community College of Rhode Island by demonstrating good sportsmanship and collegiality.
· Manage student-athlete conduct while traveling and at home events.
· Responsible for the safety and well-being of student-athletes.
· Organize, prepare and conduct team practice sessions to train and prepare for competition.
· Provide, direction, motivation, and advice to prepare student-athletes for competition.
· Establish individual and team goals.
· Establish and enforce department, college and team policies.
· Study the field and remain up to date on the latest trends of Women’s Volleyball
· Use lessons in sport as a platform for overall student-development.
· Work with the athletics trainer to organize an off-season training program for student-athletes
Administrative
· Maintain fiscal responsibility and integrity as it pertains to organizing travel, distribution of meal money, and purchasing equipment.
· Develop relationships with four-year coaches and implement a plan to assist student-athletes in transferring.
· Coordinate the game schedule and practice schedule with your Team Administrator.
o Responsible for the scheduling of all games and working within Regional master schedules
· Demonstrate an understanding and adhere to NJCAA eligibility and compliance.
· Adhere to all institutional and department policies.
· Work with your Team Administrator as it relates to, but not limited to, team and personal travel, purchasing, Student-Athlete eligibility, fundraising and camp approvals.
· Responsible for providing player information, scheduling information, team results and statistics to the sports information coordinator by the required deadlines and post online at the Presto Sports NJCAA website. The deadline for online statistics submission is each Monday by 4PM.
· Submit all ejections/cards from games to the Region XXI representative and athletic director.
· Report facility issues to the director of athletics in a timely manner.
· Submit uniform and equipment requests to the director of athletics.
o Responsible for all equipment inventory
· Coordinate and attend all fundraising initiatives for your particular sport.
· Attend all mandatory athletic department meetings.
· Must maintain current CPR / AED certification
· Distribute, collect and launder all practice and game day uniforms.
· Assist with preparing the practice and game day areas.
· Prepare all student-athlete information and speak at annual athletic awards banquet.
· Prepare Athletic Department nominations for all post-season awards.
· Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

A bachelor’s degree is required.
High School, club or college coaching experience is required in Women’s Volleyball.
Must possess a driver’s license to provide van transportation to games for student-athletes.
