Position Summary
The University at Buffalo, Department of Surgery in the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences invites applications for a full-time Research Assistant Professor position (non-tenure track). The program seeks individuals with a doctorate in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a related area, and an interest in working within a collaborative research environment focusing on advancing surgical evaluation and training. The ideal candidate will have experience in neuroimaging methods (including functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) and electroencephalography ( EEG )) and non-invasive brain stimulation. This appointment will be at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.
We are seeking a motivated researcher with excellent work ethic, strong oral communication and writing skills, and a publication record consistent with career level. The applicant is expected to work independently, as well as in collaboration with other group members.
Major areas of responsibility include:
– Building a program of research and pursuing independent research projects with application in surgery, including securing research funding to support these projects
– Supporting existing research initiatives in the development of objective brain-based metrics for surgical skill assessment
