Under the newly minted division of University Marketing & Communications, the Office of Marketing Communications creates proactive, innovative, and comprehensive marketing, communications and branding strategies that highlight Drexel’s academic strengths and research, while emphasizing the value and potential of the experiential education model. The Office of Marketing Communications works closely with colleges, schools, academic and administrative staff throughout the University to create comprehensive marketing and communications strategies that serve the University’s overarching branding, recruitment and retention goals to meet or exceed the enrollment and revenue objectives. The Office of Marketing Communications defines, protects, and disseminates the Drexel University brand while clearly illustrating its unique value proposition.

The Events & Operations Manager is responsible for the planning and execution of high quality, multi-channel and format events and project management aligned with the strategic goals of the Office of Marketing Communications. This includes projects for Admissions, Drexel Central (student services), University Registrar, University Bursar, Office of Financial Aid, Steinbright Career Development Center, Student Life, Enrollment Analytics, and Athletics. Marketing Communications also partners with University Communications for all major University marketing and branding initiatives. Under the supervision of the Executive Director, University Relations, the Events & Operations Manager supports the development and implementation of communication plans and programming related to a specific set of admissions events as well as the project management within key areas of the office of Marketing Communications. In addition, the Events & Operations Manager has the opportunity to directly supervise co-op positions or other student employees who serve in support roles to aid the planning and execution of the team’s events, projects, and other office functions as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Collaborate with staff, faculty, current students, academic leadership, administrative units and external vendors/partners to ensure successful event and project management execution.
  • Serve as lead project manager on assigned events (such as those listed above) and facilitate all event logistics and planning per event communication and planning timelines, including responsibility for all logistics, programming, communications, and planning.
  • Communicate and translate the Office of Marketing Communications vision and purpose for Drexel brand, communications, and events (as directed by Associate Director and Executive Director) to colleagues, student ambassadors, alumni, and campus partners including faculty, staff and current student volunteers.
  • Support management of project timelines, material traffic, approval process, and production within key areas of Marketing Communications. Interact on a daily basis with Marketing Communications divisional team leaders as well as, academic, and various colleagues within the institution to provide strategic recommendations and support the timely delivery of product.
  • Responsible for general event data collection and dissemination; i.e. communicate registration numbers to Marketing Communications and College/School liaisons before and after events and visits.
  • Analyze events (including guest and staff surveys, space capacities, and feedback from campus partners) and make recommendations for program improvements on an ongoing basis as well as during annual planning (responsible for producing proposals for assigned events, as needed).
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree or Equivalent
  • 1-2 years of experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
  • Event planning and/or project management experience required.
  • Microsoft Office Suite required.
Preferred Qualifications
  • • Preferred two years' work experience in event planning and higher education.
    • Project management in a creative/communications preferred
