The Application Developer will work collaboratively with the GSE IT team and directly with clients to determine functional requirements to propose and implement innovative technical solutions. Based on client requirements, they will design backend database architecture and system workflows to meet user needs and expected outcomes. They will design, code, implement, test, and deploy modern, interactive web applications primarily using PHP, MySQL, HTML, JavaScript, and CSS. They will identify, research and implement technical solutions to fit specific project goals and requirements, including working directly with external vendors to assess, select, and implement third-party technology solutions. The Application Developer will have a role in all parts of the application lifecycle, with an emphasis on detailed requirements gathering, systems analysis, design and architecture, and continuous feature enhancement.
Job Description
DUTIES
- Web & Application Design and Architecture: Acts as
the lead developer and first point of contact for designated
applications. Leads a team of developers to support key GSE web
applications. Responsible for designing systems, writing code,
implementing, testing, and deploying web applications;
Strategically design and develop system workflows to meet user
needs using third-party vendor technology solutions; Perform
analysis and make recommendations on ways to improve stability and
feature-sets for existing web applications and development
processes; Develop the deployment and maintenance of scripts and
build container environments
- Client support: Work with supported third-party software
to implement solutions for client technical needs and participate
in build vs. buy decisions ; Monitor ongoing maintenance;
Administer first- and second- tier support for in-house
applications, websites, and vendor software
- Research new and existing technology: Identify and
implement technical solutions to fit specific project goals and
requirement; Research and develop security and technical standards
and documentation for internal and external applications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of web application experience,
or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of web development and experience with
building and maintaining websites and web applications
- Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, MySQL, and object-oriented
PHP programming
- Strong technical abilities and a proven track record of
creative use of technology to solve problems
- Excellent verbal and written communication, interpersonal
skills, and attention to detail
- Strong commend of programming languages, integration methods,
and development lifecycles
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Knowledge of CMS development, Drupal 7+, PHP/ Javascript
frameworks (Symfony, Vue, React), and container environments
(Docker, Vagrant)

Salary offers are made based on the candidate's qualifications, experience, skills, and education as they directly relate to the requirements of the position, as well as internal and market factors and grade profile.
