Job Description:

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Florida, College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, invites applications for a full-time, nine-month, tenure-track, Assistant Professor position, to begin on August 16, 2023, in Italian and French Studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to a robust program in Foreign Languages and Literatures by 1) teaching two language and culture courses in Italian and French per semester, 2) maintaining an active research agenda, and 3) providing service to the department, the university, and the profession. The period of specialization for this position is open, but the department is particularly interested in candidates whose teaching and research address areas such as the following: Mediterranean Studies, the Literature and Cinema of Migration, Environmental Humanities, Transnational Studies, Film, and Visual Culture. An ability to contribute to the departmental Translation Certificate would be highly valuable.

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures is home to multiple language programs. It offers training in languages and cultures from all corners of the globe. From Swahili to Japanese, Russian to Arabic, we give our students the opportunity to become cross-cultural experts in an ever more internationalized world as they develop concentrations such as Film and Visual Culture and Comparative Cultures. Expected Salary:

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, and includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

A Ph.D. in a relevant field is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

Ability to teach language and culture courses in Italian and French

Ability to maintain active research agenda

Ability to contribute to departmental Translation Certificate

Ability to contribute to diversity and equal opportunity through scholarship, teaching, and service
