Job Description:

The University Writing Program at the University of Florida invites applications for the position of Lecturer to begin on August 16, 2023. The position is a full-time, nine-month, non-tenure accruing appointment with the possibility of renewal and an opportunity for advancement in UF's lecturer track. The University Writing Program is a thriving, independent unit offering a wide range of writing-intensive courses in areas such as themed critical thinking and writing, discipline-focused writing, and professional writing.

A significant goal of the University Writing Program is to cultivate effective visual and written communication in digital and data-driven contexts. Applicants should have expertise in communicating with data and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Visualization, Scientific Writing, AI Rhetoric and Culture. Professional experience will also be considered. Preferred qualifications include a strong interest in experiential learning, such as establishing student exchanges, leading study abroad courses, or pursuing community-based outreach. The teaching assignment is 4/3 with possible course release for the development of significant experiential learning initiatives.

Expected Salary:

The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience and includes a full benefits package.

Minimum Requirements:

Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or a related content area. Expertise in communicating with data and teaching experience in one or more of the following areas: Data Visualization, Scientific Writing, AI Rhetoric and Culture.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred qualifications include a strong interest in experiential learning, such as establishing student exchanges, leading study abroad courses, or pursuing community-based outreach.
