Job Summary:
Provide inspired and results-oriented leadership for a talented and committed institutional advancement team to obtain public support for, and private investment in, the college’s work and its students’ success. Serve as the primary designer and implementer of Resource Development plans and strategies, including Grant acquisition, Donor recruitment and retention, and leading the LBCC Foundation as its Executive Director, building and leading a Foundation Board that forms the public leadership and volunteer force for resource development activities. Establish annual and long-term fundraising targets, and develop and implement strategies for their attainment. Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for establishing a strong public understanding of and support for the work of the college in the Linn-Benton region. Develop and implement clear strategies for the use of electronic, print, and social media in support of the strategic goals and activities of the college, including student recruitment and diversity and equity goals. Serve as a guide to the president and others at the college in establishing and maintaining relationships and communications in support of the college. Serve as the college’s public information officer, maintaining open and positive lines of communication with all communities and area media.
Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor’s degree in journalism, marketing, business, public relations, or related area of study plus five years of progressively responsible experience in an area directly related to institutional advancement. Any combination of experience, training, and accomplishments that demonstrate the same competence represented in the requirements listed above will be considered.
Preferred Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in related field plus institutional advancement experience at a higher education institution is preferred.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Work is primarily performed in a normal office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. Work hours may vary and frequently extra hours, including evening and weekend work is required. Travel by personal vehicle within the district and occasionally within the State. Requires ability to use a computer and communicate with a diverse population over the phone, in person and in front of groups, and through online platforms. No special coordination beyond that used for normal mobility and handling of everyday objects and materials is needed to perform the job satisfactorily. Position can be stressful due to frequent interruptions, juggling multiple tasks and the pressure of tight time lines.
Essential Duties:
Provide leadership for an institutional advancement team that results in public support for and private investment in the college’s work and its students’ success. Provide direction, guidance and support for Institutional Advancement staff, focusing their efforts into a coordinated and effective development of community participation in and support for the work of LBCC .
Ensure a professional work and learning environment for staff and students with disabilities, free of physical, programmatic, information, and attitudinal barriers.
Embrace and lead the advancement team, Foundation Board, and the college in furthering the college’s mission, and core values of opportunity, excellence, inclusiveness, learning and engagement. Ensure Foundation goals, objectives and efforts are aligned with the college’s strategic goals of productivity, equity, and quality.
Serve as the primary designer and implementer of Resource Development plans and strategies, including Grant acquisition, Donor recruitment and retention. Lead the LBCC Foundation as its Executive Director, building and leading a Foundation Board that forms the public leadership and volunteer force for resource development activities.
Establish annual and long-term fundraising targets, and develop and implement strategies for their attainment. Provide the Director of Development with guidance and support in the solicitation of private investment in the college, including but not limited to annual giving, planned giving, endowment development, and capital projects. Work with the Director of Development in the development and implementation of capital campaigns, including but not limited to private contributions, state appropriations, and district bond measures.
Advise and support the LBCC Foundation Board in the development and management of all LBCC Foundation budgets, operations, and procedures. Work with the Director of Development in advising and supporting the Foundation Board in the acquisition and management of private resources in support of the work of LBCC and the success of its students.
Develop and implement comprehensive strategies for establishing a strong public understanding of and support for the work of the college in the Linn-Benton region. Develop and provide leadership in the implementation of comprehensive and well-integrated marketing and communications strategies, including but not limited to: establishment of consistent themes, styles, graphics, etc. in all electronic, print, and social media, regular meetings with area news editors and/or editorial boards, public speaking engagements by the president, others, and self, news releases, and special events.
Develop and implement clear strategies for the use of electronic, print, and social media in support of the goals and activities of the college, including student recruitment and diversity and equity goals. Establish and maintain electronic and print platforms and services that support the educational work of the college and its students, and effectively communicate this work with external and internal constituencies. This includes but is not limited to: college and foundation web content that effectively communicates with internal and external constituencies, student electronic access to all the resources necessary for them to explore, plan, and pursue their educational pathway to success and completion, faculty and staff electronic access to the resources necessary for them to guide and assist students, extensive access to and use of social and interactive media that encourages student, faculty and staff engagement and communication, and attractive, clear, and well-targeted print materials where more effective.
Serve as a guide to the president and others at the college in establishing and maintaining relationships and communications in support of the college. Provide critical support to the president and others, in developing themes, messages, presentations, graphics, text, and other content and delivery resources for communications with the public. Assist the president in establishing and preparing for regularly scheduled public appearances and addresses as part of an over-all marketing and communications plan.
Serve as the college’s public information officer, maintaining open and positive lines of communication with all communities and area media. Establish and maintain practices for the clear, accurate, timely communication of college and foundation information with the public. Establish and enforce procedures for official and emergency communications, including but not limited to: requests for public records/information, inquiries from media, law enforcement or other public entities, and emergency response.
Develop and manage institutional advancement budgets, operations, and procedures.
Ensure a professional work and learning environment for staff and students with disabilities, free of physical, programmatic, information, and attitudinal barriers.
Responsible for ensuring compliance with safety regulations, employee safety training, OSHA compliance, and emergency planning related to area of control.
