Job Description

The Department of Chemistry at Virginia Tech invites applications for a General Chemistry Laboratory Instructor, with an intended start date of Late Spring/Early Summer 2023. Teaching assignments will be in the General Chemistry Laboratory (e.g., Virginia Tech Courses - CHEM 1045/1046). Duties include preparation of course materials (including laboratory design and updating), presentation of topics, coordination of graduate teaching assistants (GTAs) involved in instruction, grading, assisting students individually, and other such activities as may be required to accomplish instruction.

Required Qualifications

- A Master’s Degree in Chemistry or a closely related field is required; the degree is required at the time of appointment.
- Candidate must be an effective teacher in undergraduate courses.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience teaching general chemistry lab.
- Preference will be given to candidates who have a Doctoral degree in Chemistry or a related discipline.
