The Department of Architecture at Texas A&M University invites applications for up to two full time Associate Professor positions with a 9-month academic appointment beginning fall semester 2023.

The candidate will be expected to make significant contributions in the areas of scholarly research/creative work, teaching and service. Responsibilities for this position include teaching at the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the department, university, and the field, including outreach to industry. The successful candidate will be expected to teach studio, lecture and seminar courses at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.

Additional responsibilities of the candidate hired will include:

  • conducting original research, mentoring undergraduate and graduate research, and obtaining, managing, and executing funded research project

  • teaching courses in an area of expertise  that is integral to the degree programs offered by the department

  • participating as a chair, co-chair, or committee member on masters final studies, masters theses, and doctoral dissertations

  • providing service to the public and the professions associated with architecture

  • contributing to the governance and the administration of the department

Housed within the School of Architecture, the Department of Architecture offers four degrees: Bachelor of Environmental Design, Master of Architecture, Master of Science in Architecture, and PhD in Architecture. Over 500 students and 40 faculty in the department are supported by extensive facilities and equipment including laser scanners, digital fabrication and robotics equipment, energy systems monitoring capabilities, daylighting/solar equipment, and archives from practice. The School of Architecture also houses the Department of Landscape Architecture and Urban Planning, and the Department of Construction Science. Located at the center of the Texas Triangle – an area bounded by the cities of Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, and Fort Worth – Texas A&M and its surrounding communities are positioned for rapid growth and increasing influence. The successful candidate will lead a creative or scholarly inquiry with an active, contemporary focus aligned with design for health, building technology, design and practice innovation, heritage conservation, or other areas consistent with the resources of the department.

Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications.
