Job Description

The Department of Educational Studies at the University of Nevada, Reno seeks an Assistant Professor of Educational Leadership to begin July 1, 2023. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position. The selected individual will conduct an active research and publication program, teach masters and doctoral courses in school and district leadership, provide advising support to graduate students, supervise doctoral dissertations, and provide service for the university and the profession.

Required Qualifications

An earned doctorate in education (or related fields such as sociology, political science, economics, public policy, and psychology) is required by August 2023. The candidate's expertise should fall within the central areas of teaching and research on educational leadership and administration in K12 settings. Candidates must show productivity or potential for national prominence through research published in peer-reviewed journals. Candidates must additionally possess the ability to teach graduate courses related to educational leadership.

Preferred Qualifications

While areas of research and teaching are open, the search committee will prioritize candidates with expertise and interest in teaching courses related to the preparation of future school and district leaders. Other desired qualifications include expertise (in teaching and/or research) on issues of diversity and equity in K12 education, experience mentoring and advising graduate students, and a sustainable research agenda with the promise of external funding.

Assistant Professor
